Arrive at the airport and transfer to the hotel in the Venice area (Mestre). Smart Hotel Holiday Mestre 4* or similar (D)
Head to Padua and take a guided walk to discover its main monuments: the Basilica of Saint Anthony (Donatello’s equestrian monument of Gattamelata, the interior with the Chapel of the Saint, high altar, and cloisters), and visit the historic centre: Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza della Frutta, Piazza dei Signori, the university, and more. Spend the afternoon as you please in Padua. Continue on to the region of Montecatini Terme, an elegant spa resort. Hotel Byron 3* or similar (B-D)
Take the train to Florence. Go on a guided tour of the city centre’s main monuments: the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with its imposing façade and prestigious Brunelleschi Dome, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery with its bronze doors, the most famous of which is the Gates of Paradise (exterior). Continue on to Piazza della Signoria, a beautiful square in the heart of the city surrounded by Palazzo Vecchio (town hall) with its elegant tower. Spend the afternoon exploring Florence at your leisure. Return to Montecatini at the end of the day. Dinner and accommodation in the Montecatini area. (B-D)
In the morning, ride the funicular up to the medieval part of the town of “Alta,” built on the hill and providing breathtaking views over all of Tuscany. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of Lucca (exterior), with its historic centre and imposing ramparts. Return to Montecatini in the late afternoon. Head to the famous city of Pisa for a guided tour of the main monuments: the popular Piazza del Duomo, also called Piazza dei Miracoli, the sumptuous Pisa Cathedral with its grandiose façade and imposing interior, the Baptistery rich in gables and pinnacles, and the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. Depart by public transit for a guided tour of St. Mark’s Square to admire the grandiose Saint Mark's Basilica (exterior), the façades of Doge’s Palace (exterior), the Bell Tower (exterior), Clock Tower, Bridge of Sighs, Procuracies, and more. In the afternoon, take a guided walk to discover authentic, popular districts all the way to the Rialto Bridge. Spend the rest of the day exploring at your own pace.
