Day 1Naples

Arrive at the airport and transfer to the hotel located on the coast of Pompeii. Hotel Poseidon 4* or similar (D)

Day 2Sorrento

Take a guided walk to discover beautiful Sorrento: the Piazza Tasso, the elegant historic centre, and the Church and Cloisters of San Francesco. In the afternoon, go on a scenic tour of the Sorrento Peninsula, stopping along the way to admire the magnificent views of the Gulf of Naples. Stop at a farm to tour a lemon grove and sample limoncello, the famous lemon-based liqueur. Dinner and accommodation on the coast of Pompeii. (B-D)

Day 3Gragnano – Pompeii

Travel to the village of Gragnano to tour a pasta factory. Then, visit an artisan coral workshop. In the afternoon, head to Pompeii and take a guided tour of the ruins of this famous Roman city, buried long ago by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Dinner and accommodation on the coast of Pompeii. Day 4Naples

Spend the day visiting Naples. Stroll through the narrow laneways of the Spaccanapoli district. Discover Baroque palaces and churches such as Gesù Nuovo, plus remarkable Gothic buildings such as the Basilica di Santa Chiara (exterior). Then, visit the city centre: the small port of Santa Lucia and the Castel dell’Ovo, the Galleria Umberto I, Royal Palace of Naples, San Carlo Theatre, Piazza del Plebiscito, Via Medina and Castel Nuovo, also called Maschio Angioino. Day 5Amalfi Coast

Spend the day exploring the Amalfi Coast, admiring magnificent views along the scenic route, one of Italy’s most beautiful roads. Stop in the historic centre of Amalfi, home to the beautiful 11th-century Saint Andrew’s Cathedral. Dinner and accommodation on the coast of Pompeii. (B-D)

Day 7Paestum and Salerno

Depart for an excursion to the southern coast of the Campania region, where Paestum—a major Greek archaeological site—is located. Enter the site and go on a guided tour of the ruins (the Basilica, Temple of Neptune, Temple of Ceres) and the museum (metopes, Tomb of the Diver, and more). In the afternoon, stop at Salerno to explore the historic centre at your leisure, including the Norman-style Duomo and its picturesque Via dei Mercanti (merchants’ street).
