Day 2Gargano Peninsula

Full-day excursion to the Gargano promontory, known as the “spur of Italy’s boot.” Travel along the rugged Adriatic coastline before reaching Vieste, a charming town dominated by a 13th-century castle. Photo stop at the famous Pizzomunno sea stack. On the return journey, walk through Monte Sant’Angelo, perched 800m above sea level and offering spectacular views over the Gargano Peninsula and the Adriatic Sea. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. (B-D)

Day 3Barletta – Bari – Trani – Lecce (310km)

Discover Bari with a stroll along the Lungomare Nazario Sauro waterfront overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Explore the medieval old town, its charming alleyways and the local tradition of handmade fresh pasta. Pass by the Basilica of Saint Nicholas and the cathedral, two remarkable landmarks of the city’s rich historical heritage. Day 4Otranto – Gallipoli (155km)

Departure for Otranto, located at the easternmost tip of Italy, a charming fishing port where a dialect closely related to Greek is still spoken. Visit the town, its cathedral, historic centre and the Aragonese Castle (exterior view). In the afternoon, enjoy free time to explore Gallipoli, built on a small peninsula. Discover its castle and the Cathedral of Sant’Agata. Continue along the Riviera and its ancient ramparts, offering magnificent views of the Ionian Sea. Dinner and overnight stay in the Lecce area. Day 5Lecce – Martina Franca – Alberobello (120km)

Discover Lecce, often referred to as the “Florence of the Baroque.” Explore its Roman remains, richly decorated churches and ornate palaces.
