Tour of Stockholm, a city built on 14 islands and hailed as a masterpiece of waterside architecture. Sightseeing trip around the city’s various canals, including the Diplomat City, the Western Bridge, the Royal Palace and “Gamla Stan,” the old town district whose origins date back to the 13th century. Visit to the City Hall, built on the water in 1911, and its famous Golden Room, where Nobel Prize winners are celebrated each year. Afternoon free. (B-L)
Morning transfer to Stockholm train station and boarding of the train to Gothenburg. The approximately 4-hour journey offers beautiful views of Sweden’s forests, lakes and countryside. Upon arrival, free time for lunch followed by a guided tour of Gothenburg, including Götaplatsen, the Poseidon Statue, Vasakyrkan, Kronhuset, Skansen Lejonet and the New Opera House. Departure for Sweden’s west coast. En route, visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tanum and its remarkable rock carvings. Discovery of idyllic landscapes and a traditional way of life. Free time for lunch in the village of Fjällbacka, followed by a walk through this charming harbour.
