Day 1Faro – Albufeira

Arrive at the Faro airport and transfer to the hotel in the Algarve. Belver Boa Vista Hotel 3*+ or similar

Day 2Lagos – Sagres – Cap St. Vincent

Head to Lagos. Visit Ponta da Piedade, one of the most impressive sites in the Algarve, where rocks carved by the wind and tides over thousands of years have formed caves and tunnels. In the afternoon, continue to historic Sagres for more unforgettable experiences. Explore the unique beauty of Sagres Point with its historic fortress. Continue to Cape St. Vincent, an awe-inspiring promontory 100 m in length with rugged, soaring cliffs. (B-L-D)

Day 3Ria Formosa

Set sail to discover three magical islands in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, designated one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal. Spend time on the island of Armona, with its vast white-sand beach and abundant shells, and be sure to take a dip in the crystal-clear water. Then sail to the island of Culatra to learn about a local fishing community. Continue to the island of Farol and take a walking tour to the lighthouse of Cape Santa Maria. Enjoy a fish lunch on the island. Return to the hotel in the afternoon. (B-L-D)

Day 4Faro – Almancil

Head to Faro, capital of the Algarve. Explore the old town, including the Arco da Vila and the cathedral that sits majestically in a square shaded by orange trees. Continue to Almancil, a quaint little town in a beautiful setting. Admire the outside of the baroque-style church of São Lourenço, famous for its incredible decorative tiles inside that date back to 1730. Return to the hotel and enjoy a free afternoon. (B-L-D)

Day 5Loulé – Villa Rosa

Head to Loulé to tour the town and the local market, where the array of colours, textures, and unique aromas speak to the culture and traditions of the region. In the afternoon take a 4x4 to the backcountry, from Villa Rosa to the Serra de Monchique deep in the heart of the Algarve. Off road, you’ll get a unique perspective of the stunning scenery and villages where time has stood still. Sample local delicacies such as honey and organic fruit jams, then visit a distillery to taste one of Portugal’s best-known brandies. (B-L-D)

Day 6Tavira - Moncarapacho

Head to Tavira, a town whose Moorish architecture has made it one of the jewels of the Algarve. Explore the old city and see the outside of Misericórdia church, the ruins of the Moorish castle, and the Roman bridge. Continue to Moncarapacho, an idyllic village in the countryside near Olhão. Take a guided tour of an olive grove to see how olive trees are grown and how Portugal’s famous olive oil is made, followed by a tasting. Return to the hotel and enjoy dinner on your own. (B-L)

Day 7Silves

Spend the morning as you please. In the afternoon, take a tour of Silves, a major centre during the time of the Moors. Visit the main monuments. Continue with a visit to a fruit-producing quinta, known for the famous Algarve oranges, followed by a tasting. (B-D)
