After exploring the historical center, stop at Jardim António Borges, a 19th-century public botanical garden featuring hundreds of exotic plant species. Visit and tasting at a traditional pineapple plantation. Continue to the west coast with a stop at the Pico do Carvão lookout, followed by the Vista do Rei viewpoint, offering a breathtaking vista of the Sete Cidades volcanic complex and its twin lakes (the Blue and Green lakes). Lunch at a local restaurant in the picturesque village of Sete Cidades. In the afternoon, visit the historic center of Ribeira Grande, followed by the Caldeira Velha Environmental Interpretation Centre, a protected nature reserve featuring a thermal hot spring waterfall.
