Depart for Avignon, the “City of Popes.” Visit the Palace of the Popes, an impressive Gothic fortress, and the famous Avignon Bridge. Have lunch on your own in the historic centre. Spend the day in the heart of the Luberon. Depart for Gordes, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. Continue on to Roussillon, famous for its striking ochre cliffs. Stop in the Provençal villages of Ménerbes and Bonnieux. Have lunch in a Provençal farmhouse or a charming country inn. Return to the hotel and have dinner on your own. (B-L)
Spend the morning exploring the wild Camargue’s unique fauna and flora. Enjoy a traditional lunch at a manade among bulls and horses, possibly with live gypsy music. Head back to the hotel and spend the rest of the day as you please. (B-L)
Leave Provence for the French Riviera. Stop for free time in Saint-Tropez with a stroll through the Old Port, lively streets, and Place des Lices. Have lunch on your own in a seaside restaurant.
