Flight to Toulouse.

Day 2Toulouse

Pick-up at the airport. Guided tour of the historic heart of the city and its emblematic monuments, including Place du Capitole, Basilica of Saint-Sernin, Church of the Jacobins and Hotel de Bernuy. Check-in and dinner in a restaurant. Mercure Toulouse St Georges Hotel 4* (D)

Day 3Toulouse – Cahors – Saint-Cirq-Lapopie – Sarlat-la-Canéda (205km)

Drive to Cahors for a guided tour of the old town and the UNESCO-listed Valentre bridge. Onward to Saint-Cirq-Lapopie for a guided tour of the commune’s emblematic monuments. In late afternoon, arrival in Sarlat-la-Caneda and check into hotel for the next 8 nights. La Couleuvrine Hotel 3* (B-D)

Day 4Sarlat-la-Canéda - Castelnaud-la-Chapelle (40km)

Walking guided tour of Sarlat, the capital of Perigord Noir, followed by a goat cheese tasting and some free time. In the afternoon, visit to a truffle farm, with truffle-finding demonstration and tasting of local truffle products. Return to the hotel. (B-D)

Day 5Vitrac – Domme – La Roque-Gageac (15km)

Departure for the Dordogne Valley, stopping in Vitrac to admire the vista of the Turnac peninsula from Chateau Montfort. Then, off to discover the village of Domme, a veritable jewel of the Perigord Noir region. Continuation to la Roque-Gageac, a charming village located at the foot of a cliff. Stroll and lunch on the farm. Afternoon gabare trip on the Dordogne, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Return to the hotel. (B-L-D)

Day 6Tursac – Castelnaud-la-Chapelle (75km)

Morning guided tour of the troglodyte village of Madeleine, one of the best-preserved prehistoric sites in the Vezere Valley. In the afternoon, guided tour of Chateau des Milandes, followed by a falconry show. Return to the hotel. (B-L-D)

Day 7Bergerac – Monbazillac (162km)

Trip to Bergerac for a guided tour of Cyrano’s famous hometown. Lunch and free time. Onward to Chateau de Monbazillac, followed by local wine tasting. Next, a visit to the Grande Maison Monbazillac before a tasting of six wines. Return to the hotel. (B-D)

Day 8Pazayac – Salignac-Eyvigues – Castelnaud-la-Chapelle (105km)

Meet with a miller to see the mill and how it works. Then, take a guided tour of the gardens of Eyrignac. In the afternoon, visit Castelnaud Castle, built on a rocky spur with magnificent panoramic views of the Dordogne Valley. Return to the hotel. (B-L)

Day 9Vezac – Beynac – Audrix (65km)

Departure for Vezac and guided tour of the Marqueyssac hanging gardens, where one of the finest panoramas in Perigord can be marvelled at. Travel to Beynac for lunch and free time. Stop to admire the view from the top of Beynac Castle. Discover the Gouffre de Proumeyssac, dubbed the “Crystal Cathedral” for its massive underground vault as well as its sound and light show. Day 10Lascaux

Guided tour of Lascaux IV and the International Centre of Parietal Art, featuring a full-scale reproduction of the original cave, a prehistoric masterpiece listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Back to Sarlat for a foie gras and walnut cake tasting. Free time for the rest of the afternoon. (B-D)

Day 11Padirac Chasm – Rocamadour – Toulouse (240km)

In the morning, exploration of the Padirac Chasm, an astonishing cave located 103 metres underground. Afternoon dedicated to Rocamadour, a cliff-clinging pilgrimage town whose houses, chapels and castle crown its daring construction. Then, drive to Toulouse and check into hotel.
