Day 1Reykjavík

Pick-up at Reykjavík airport and transfer to hotel. Hotel Klettur 3*

Day 2Reykjavík - Thingvellir - Gullfoss - Borgarnes (310km)

Departure for Thingvellir National Park. Tour of the former seat of Iceland’s parliament, located on the banks of the country’s largest lake. Continuation to Gullfoss, the famous “Golden Falls,” and the nearby Great Geysir, a natural wonder in an area peppered with hot springs and volcanic mudpots. Onward to Borgarnes and check into the hotel. Hotel Bifröst 3* (B-D)

Day 3Borgarnes - Skagafjörður - Sauðárkrókur (300km)

Discovery of the spectacular Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. Continuation to Skagafjörður, renowned for the breeding of Icelandic horses. Lunch at leisure in the coastal village of Blönduós, followed by a visit to the Glaumbær Folk Museum. Then, departure for the Akureyri region. Hotel Mikligardur 3* (B-D)

Day 4Sauðárkrókur - Akureyri - Mývatn - Húsavík (280km)

Trip to Akureyri, a trading port founded by the Danish in the 17th century. Continuation to Godafoss then, exploration of the Lake Mývatn region, known around the world for its unique geographical features. Discovery of the region’s many natural marvels, including the famous lava formations and volcanic caves in Dimmuborgir (translation: “Dark Fortress”), the geothermal field in Hverarönd, and the dramatic craters in Skútustaðir. Fosshótel Húsavík 3* (B-D)

Day 5Húsavík - Ásbyrgi - Dettifoss - Breiðdalsvík (370km)

Boat trip to observe humpback and minke whales. Afternoon drive to Ásbyrgi to witness its spectacular horseshoe canyon. Continuation to the eastern fjords and stop at Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall. Stadarborg Hotel 3* (B-D)

Day 6Breiðdalsvík - Vatnajökull - Jökulsárlón - Skaftafell - Vík (450km)

Drive to the south of Iceland to admire the Vatnajökull ice cap, then aboard an amphibious vehicle for a cruise amidst bluish icebergs on Lake Jökulsárlón. Then, tour of Skaftafell National Park, famous for its superb basalt formations. Day 7Vík - Skógafoss - Reykjavík (210km)
