Day 2London – Salisbury – Stonehenge – Cornwall (370km)

After breakfast, head south to Salisbury, a bucolic town in the heart of the English countryside. Optional: Visit the cathedral ($) to admire one of the four copies of the Magna Carta. Have lunch on your own before heading to Stonehenge, an iconic site steeped in mystery and ancient legends. At the end of the day, continue to Plymouth, the perfect home base for exploring the splendour of Cornwall. Crowne Plaza Plymouth Hotel 4* or similar (B-D)

Day 3North Cornwall

Discover the legendary Tintagel Castle, perched on soaring cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and considered to be the birthplace of King Arthur. Continue exploring North Cornwall. Stop to admire picturesque fishing villages and breathtaking panoramas. Have lunch along the way. (B-L)

Day 4St. Michael’s Mount

After breakfast, set off to explore St. Michael’s Mount, England’s “Mont-Saint-Michel.” This mysterious island crowned by a majestic medieval castle is accessible only at low tide. If St. Michael’s Mount is inaccessible, the tour may be replaced by a visit to the splendid Trebah Garden. Continue along the scenic coastline to a traditional cider house for a tour and tasting of local ciders. (B-L-D)

Day 5Cornwall – Wells – Bath (230km)

Depart for Wells, a charming town that with one of the most beautiful cathedrals in England. Continue to Bath, an architectural gem listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its Roman baths and Georgian elegance. Enjoy a traditional English high tea, complete with delicate sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, little cakes, and tea or coffee. Check in downtown and have dinner on your own. Day 6Bath – Oxford – London (210km)
