Day 1Thessaloniki

Day 2Thessaloniki

Discover the highlights of Thessaloniki: the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Basilica of St. Dimitri, the picturesque upper town, the Arch of Galerius, and the White Tower. Visit the Archaeological Museum followed by a stroll along the waterfront with a stop at the statue of Alexander the Great, a striking tribute to the city’s history and culture. (B)

Day 3Dion – Mount Olympus – Litochoro (330km)

After breakfast, head to the ancient city of Dion to discover temples, mosaics, ruins, and the Archaeological Museum. Continue to Mount Olympus and enjoy the spectacular view from the Stavros refuge, then explore the charming village of Litochoro at your own pace. You might choose to take a short hike in the picturesque Enipeas Gorge where history, legends, and natural beauty coexist. (B)

Day 4Pella – Edessa – Naoussa (220km)

Visit Pella, the former capital of Macedonia and birthplace of Alexander the Great. Continue to Edessa, the “City of Water,” renowned for its waterfalls and rivers. Spend the rest of the afternoon as you please. At the end of the day, stop at a notable winery for a Xinomavro tasting and learn about the art of Greek winemaking. (B)

Day 5Meteora (480km)

Spend the day exploring Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage site where historic monasteries stand on imposing cliffs. Visit of two of the best-preserved monasteries and see the frescoes, icons, and collections that tell the story of monastic life over the centuries. Enjoy free time in the quaint village of Kalambaka, with breathtaking views in every direction. (B)

Day 6Veria – Vergina (155km)

Head towards Veria to visit Saint Paul’s Bema, a spot where the apostle is said to have preached, before exploring Aigai (Vergina), the former capital of Macedonia. Visit the Museum of the Royal Tombs at Aigai, including the tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the museum houses treasure, gold artifacts, and remarkable remains from the Argead dynasty. Spend time on your own in the village or, if you like, explore the palace ruins. (B)

Day 7Chalkidiki – Mount Athos (300km)

Travel through Chalkidiki and the countryside of northern Greece, passing by Lake Koronia and Lake Volvi and the historic castle of Rentina.
