CAA-Quebec Roadside Assistance passes the test on the first cold day of the season
Wow, it was cold! But we were ready for it—we were even looking forward to it! Being there when it counts is our promise, and we delivered on it yesterday by helping out 5816 members on the first really cold day of the season, and during a pandemic no less.
As an essential service, we’ve been in operation throughout the health crisis and our Roadside Assistance will continue despite the tighter restrictions announced this week by the Quebec government. Our team is extremely proud that we’ve maintained the quality of our Roadside Assistance service, while applying strict health precautions to protect our members and employees. We’re using protective equipment, distancing, and sanitizing, and our dispatchers and contact centre agents are working from home. These measures passed the test on the first day of really cold weather yesterday.

“I’m proud of our Roadside Assistance team. We delivered on our promise under very difficult circumstances. We can say loud and clear: CAA-Quebec is there when it counts, even during a pandemic, even in extreme weather, even at night, even during the holiday season!”
– Pierre-Serge Labbé, CAA-Quebec Vice President, Automotive Services
Good preparation is the key to success!
It went down to -24 °C in Quebec City and -18 °C in Montreal yesterday. Some people were caught off guard by the early cold snap, but not us! Even though the volume of calls is hard to predict when travel is limited, the CAA-Quebec Roadside Assistance team was ready, and had additional staff on hand, both on the phones and in the field, all across the province. Thinking ahead allowed us to keep response times at a more than satisfactory level.
As many as 200 calls every 15 minutes!
CAA-Quebec helped no fewer than 5816 members on December 16, handling as many as 200 calls every 15 minutes around midday. Most of the calls involved battery services, such as boosts.
Plug in your car and get your battery tested
Cold weather is hard on cars. When temperatures plummet, your engine needs more power to start—but your battery can struggle to deliver it. CAA-Quebec’s automotive experts provide tips on making car starts easier in cold weather, including using block heaters and synthetic oil and getting your battery tested. Check out our battery service for help.
Stay tuned . . . because more tips are on their way. We’re just starting up, and our batteries are fully charged!
