Roadside Assistance: a quiet and cautious holiday season

Published on January 6, 2021

After making it through the first cold day in COVID mode on December 16 with 5,816 members served, CAA-Quebec Roadside Assistance was ready for the holiday season. Between December 23 and January 4, our teams across Quebec served more than 20,000 members!

This year the holidays were far from typical, with mild temperatures and public health authority bans on gatherings in most regions of the province. Despite a lower-than-average call volume, our CAA-Quebec patrollers were there when our members needed them, responding to 20,035 service calls for all sorts of reasons and at all times of the day and night. Response times were very good, averaging 32 minutes for the entire province.

CAA-Quebec patrollers are standing by 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in all temperatures across Quebec.

Lots of towing and jump starts

The most common service calls completed between December 23 and January 4 were for towing and jump starts, followed by battery service, lockout, flat tire assistance, and winching.

“We’re proud of our teams who, once again, were ready to serve throughout the province and give our members peace of mind on the road,” said Pierre-Serge Labbé, Vice President of Automotive Services at CAA-Quebec. “They know we’ll be there when it counts, on milder days temperatures as much as on cold days, and even when there is any sort of precipitation.”

Mild temperatures and at-home holiday celebrations may have played their part in a perceptible small decrease in number for towing, lockout, and winching. On the other side, we’ve seen an increase for all battery assistance services, mostly jump starts.

Test your battery and avoid a breakdown
