Suggestions for everyone in the family, young and old alike
Are you visiting Walt Disney World Resort with young children, teenagers, or a mix of both? Will your parents be joining you? No matter your situation, our tailored tips and advice will help you sprinkle a little magic throughout your entire visit.
Disney with young children (ages 0 to 8)
Head to Magic Kingdom Park: There are plenty of attractions for little ones, with no height restrictions. You can also meet most of the Disney characters there. Plan to spend about 40% of your time in this park.
Hotels located on the Walt Disney World Resort site are obviously the best choice. You will save time and enjoy benefits such as free transportation. Options for all needs and budgets are available.
Disney Dining Plans include a set number of prepaid meals and snacks, giving you more time to spend with your family enjoying the magic of Disney. And less time budgeting for meals! It also means you can say that magic word to your kids: “Yes.”
- The Park Hopper Option allows you to visit more than one park on the same day. This gives you greater flexibility in your comings and goings between the different parks.
- If you can, go back to the hotel to rest in the afternoon–when the kids are all rested and ready to go, your evenings will be way more fun.
- Use the Rider Switch Option: When an adult has finished an attraction with older children, the adult who stayed with the younger children can then take their place without waiting in line. And the children get to enjoy a second ride.
- Partake in the nighttime entertainment by purchasing accessories that light up and flash to the beat of the music. Kids will absolutely love it!
Disney with teens (ages 9 to 17)
Disney’s Hollywood Studios ranks high on the list of things to do. Visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a world where you can explore the planet Batuu, with life-size ships and characters from the film series. There you can embark on interactive adventures, including piloting the Millennium Falcon and joining the Resistance for an epic battle. And don’t forget the thrill rides such as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, TRON Lightcycle / Run, and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, which will be available in summer 2026.
Teenagers are some of the most resilient guests, which is why on-site hotels are perfect for them. They’ll get the most out of the opening hours with earlier (or later) access to theme parks. Thanks to on-site transportation, you can even let them explore on their own. Off-site partner hotels are also a good choice thanks to the shuttle service between the hotel and the park (fees apply), free breakfast, and discounts at park shops and restaurants.
Disney Dining Plans bring convenience and flexibility to your vacation by taking the hassle out of planning meals and snacks. With over 200 dining locations to choose from across all Disney hotels, theme parks, and select locations in Disney Springs, there’s something to delight (almost) every palate!
- Plan an itinerary for each day (attractions, breaks, restaurants, etc.) to enjoy your days to the fullest.
- When making reservations for restaurants (60 days in advance), review the menus and photos on My Disney Experience and have your children be involved in the selection process.
- Choose a meeting place that is easy to find should you get separated from your teenagers. Agree on clear rules – you’ll save time and have more fun!
Disney with your partner or friends
Golf lovers can choose from 4 prestigious courses. With their lush vegetation and sparkling water features, they showcase the region’s natural beauty. In the evening, discover the timeless charm of Disney’s Boardwalk, a quarter-mile waterfront promenade. It features outstanding restaurants, unique shops, and lively nightclubs.
For couples seeking a romantic getaway, check into Disney’s Beach Club Resort. This luxury hotel is bordered by a white-sand beach with direct access to the EPCOT Park. Alternately, consider the Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, where you can enjoy the charming atmosphere of Louisiana. Should you decide to stay off-site, ensure that your hotel offers shuttle service to avoid additional expenses such as car rental and parking fees.
Thanks to the Disney Dining Plan, discover classic meal options at quick-service and table-service restaurants. Experience the table-service option, featuring a wide variety of culinary delights ranging from traditional African, Indian, and Mediterranean cuisines to premium steaks and fresh seafood.
- Plan your stay during the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival for a delicious culinary adventure.
- Enjoy dinner at the Rose & Crown Dining Room English pub. Get there early—the outdoor tables are highly sought after and can’t be reserved.
- Spoil yourself with treatments at Senses Spa in Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. This facility is inspired by 19th-century New York spas.
Disney … for all generations
Be sure to plan your daily schedule before heading to the parks. Check with each member of the group to see what they want to do so that everyone gets what they want without cramming too much into the schedule. Do your teens prefer to be independent? Decide on a time to meet up in the morning and evening anyway, so you can catch up and enjoy some quality family time.
Renting a house is a great way to meet everyone’s needs. You will find a wide variety of options at affordable prices. In addition to housing everyone under one roof, this option provides more living space: living room, play area, kitchen… Many houses even feature a private pool!
Are you looking to slow down a bit and enjoy treasured family moments over shared meals, or watch your children glow with excitement while dining with their favourite characters? The Disney Dining Plan is the ultimate way to enjoy classic dining options at quick-service and table-service restaurants, including character-themed meals. It’s an easy solution for planning meals around your family’s schedule, with quick-service dining when you’re on the go and table-service dining when it’s time to sit back and savour the moment.
- Keep an eye on the show schedule for those who sometimes want to relax in air-conditioned comfort.
- Head for attractions where there is no shade in the morning, when the heat is not at its peak.
- Forever capture your family moments with the Memory Maker service. That way, no one is stuck playing photographer.
- Buy or bring pins, then trade them with Disney staff members—kids will love this activity!
Did you know?
- Cinderella’s Castle is practically empty! There is only a shop, a restaurant, and an apartment (that was originally intended for Walt Disney).
- EPCOT is an acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Walt Disney planned to create a city that would be a blueprint of humanity’s future.
- Every day, more than 200 pairs of glasses end up in lost property.
- When Magic Kingdom Park opened its doors on October 1, 1971, the admission price was US$3.50.
