Worst Roads 2021: Experts weigh in on the state of our road network
Do you think roads in Quebec are worse than anywhere else? How is it possible that so many potholes appear every spring? Are Quebec roads properly designed and made from the right materials? Why are they in such a pitiful state? These are all great questions, and now we have answers.
Quebec residents have an opportunity to call out the Worst Roads in Quebec at caaworstroads.com, but CAA-Quebec wanted to take it one step further. We asked the experts to weigh in on the issue, this exclusive content is now available for all on our website.
“The state of our roads is a concern for everyone, whether you’re a driver, cyclist, or pedestrian,” said Sophie Gagnon, Vice President of Public Affairs and Road Safety. “We sent out a detailed questionnaire to a group of experts, and the answers we got provide new insight into the state of our roads and, most importantly, possible solutions.”
Input from professors and Quebec’s Ministère des Transports
We’re very grateful to Alan Carter, senior professor at the École de technologie supérieure Pavements and Bituminous Materials Laboratory, and Guy Doré, professor at the Université Laval Faculty of Engineering. Quebec’s Ministère des Transports also provided valuable information sourced from numerous experts at the ministry.
“At last, we have answers to the questions on everyone’s mind,” said Sophie Gagnon. “Today we’re able to share valuable knowledge to fuel the discussion on the state of our roads and lead to concrete actions to enhance them.”
Don’t forget to call out the worst road for 2021. Have your say and help Quebec get on track towards better roads.
