The CAA-Quebec Foundation carries on its commitment to road safety in support of families
The CAA-Quebec Foundation donated more than 150 new child car seats to families in need to help ensure their safety.
Purchasing a car seat, an essential part of a child’s safety, is a significant expense, especially for young families in precarious situations. To know that your child is safely settled in the right seat is reassuring, especially when you know that one child out of two in Quebec is not properly secured or is not in the right car seat. Indeed, this project was initiated to offer peace of mind and a financial boost to parents.
Last November 14, the official event to launch the project took place. Partners and guests gathered at Projets Bourlamaque, a community-based organization that received car seats.

Supporting the community
The conditions of the last few years and the growing inflation have led to more important and specific needs. According to Guillaume Larose, coordinator at Projets Bourlamaque: “These seats meet a real need for the residents of Place Bourlamaque and the surrounding area who are experiencing a situation of poverty.”

“In these difficult times for many families, solidarity is more important than ever. This project would not be possible without the support of great partners like United Way Centraide and Evenflo Canada.”

Key partners
The contribution of Centraide Québec et Chaudière-Appalaches and Centraide Bas-Saint-Laurent was invaluable in selecting and reaching out to community agencies working with families in need who were responsible for the distribution of seats. “Centraide’s collaboration with the CAA-Quebec Foundation was a natural fit. We are very happy to have joined forces with them on this project, which will have a real impact on the lives of many Quebec families,” says Isabelle Genest, President and CEO of Centraide Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches and Bas-Saint-Laurent.
Also noteworthy is the involvement of Evenflo Canada, a leading manufacturer of child car seats, which has delivered them to the organizations.
Road safety is in CAA-Quebec ’s DNA
For many years, CAA-Quebec has been advocating the safe use of child car seats in partnership with the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ). “This new project complements all the training and awareness initiatives already established to improve road safety,” concludes Sophie Gagnon.
