Grand return of CAA-Quebec’s electric vehicle road tests at the 2023 Montreal International Auto Show

Published on January 18, 2023

After a two-year absence, the Montreal International Auto Show (MIAS) is finally making a comeback from January 20 to 29, 2023. And when SIAM returns, so does CAA-Quebec and its renowned electric vehicle road tests.

A fleet of 11 electric vehicles (EVs) will be available for visitors to try at the Show, completely free of charge. These road tests are made possible thanks to the financial support of Running Electric and the MIAS, while the charging stations are graciously lent to us by Leviton. Representatives from CAA-Quebec will be attending the Show and answering any questions visitors may have.

Sourcing remains difficult in the automotive world–especially for EVs–even though there is a very high demand for them. The good news is that the event will bring together many vehicles not yet available in dealerships. Whether consumers are currently on a waiting list for an EV, eager to learn more about electromobility, or simply passionate about cars, now is the right time to come have a look, try them out and compare them.

“We were very excited to resume featuring test drives of electric vehicles at the MIAS. With so many new models hitting the market since our last event three years ago, visitors to the Auto Show will have the opportunity to experience the latest in technology.”

- Jesse Caron, CAA-Quebec Automotive Expert

The process of shopping for a vehicle has changed a lot since the previous shows. In a post-pandemic context, car dealers often no longer have demonstration models to test drive. Furthermore, waiting lists are now a rather common thing. As such, this year’s Show promises to be relevant for all future buyers who wish to see and even touch the vehicle they are interested in, all in one location and without any pressure to buy.

What will you choose to drive?

Several new models will be available for test drives in the streets of Montréal. Attendees will find plenty to choose from among these models:

  • Cadillac LYRIQ
  • Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV
  • Hyundai IONIQ 5
  • Hyundai KONA electric
  • Kia EV6
  • Kia Niro EV
  • MINI Cooper SE
  • MINI Cooper SE Countryman
  • Nissan ARIYA
  • Toyota bZ4X

The tests are open to anyone aged 25 and over who hold a valid driver’s licence. Visit our website for more details regarding the models offered, the schedule and the location for the test drives.
