EV-curious? Or EV-committed? Either way, welcome to the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show!

Published on May 2, 2019

Thirteen. Thousand. Dollars. With the new federal incentive going into effect, you can now get up to $13,000 in government rebates when you buy a brand new electric vehicle. Now you just have to decide which one—and that’s where the third annual Montreal Electric Vehicle Show (MEVS) comes in!

From May 3 to 5, 130 exhibitors will descend on Place Bonaventure for this must-attend event. All the biggest carmakers will be showing off their latest models, even offering some for a test drive.

No discrimination here

The MEVS is open to all, without discrimination: from the EV-curious to the EV-committed, the EV-enthusiast to the EV-uncertain. Whatever your EV “relationship status,” the experts from CAA-Quebec will be there to answer questions and tell it like it is. Where do you recharge? How? What are the benefits and drawbacks, what’s the learning curve, how much do they really cost, how do they affect how you travel? Auto expert Jesse Caron from CAA-Quebec will be giving a talk on these very topics (in French), Le VÉ à la portée de tous : mythe ou réalité?

If you’re still unsure about going electric you can take a spin in the CAA-Quebec Foundation simulator to learn a few eco-friendly driving tips and help the environment that way.

Take the shuttle to the show—it’s electric too!

Come one, come all! CAA-Quebec is upping the ante with a shuttle service. And these aren’t just any shuttles, they’re fully electric Keolis shuttles. They’ll run from the Montreal Casino P-10 parking lot to Place Bonaventure. And they’re totally free. Now that’s a great way to save on parking.

That little (financial) boost they need

“For a lot of families, the government incentives offer that little extra boost they need to choose electric. They bring the cost more in line with that of a gas-powered vehicle, and after a few years of not buying gas, the fully electric vehicle may turn out to be cheaper,” says Pierre-Serge Labbé, vice president of automotive services at CAA-Quebec. “We expect to see a new wave of electric vehicles on Quebec roads, and we’re getting ready. For example, last fall CAA-Quebec started testing a mobile charging service with Hyundai IONIQ. It will be on demo at the show.”

The Montreal Electric Vehicle Show is in its third year, drawing roughly 25,000 visitors last year alone. As a key partner from the start, CAA-Quebec is offering its members a $5 discount on tickets plus an express lane for entering the show.
