Electric Vehicle Show to make an electrifying Quebec City debut!
It’s here! After three shows in Montreal and almost 26,000 visitors this year, the Electric Vehicle (EV) Show is heading to Quebec City as interest in electromobility hits an all-time high in the wake of recently announced federal rebates.
With the addition of the new federal incentive, you can now get up to $13,000 in government rebates when you buy or lease a brand new EV. All you have to do is choose the one that’s right for you, and that’s where the Quebec City EV Show comes in.
The big automakers will showcase their latest models at the Show, which takes place May 24 to 26 at the Centre des Foires. Some 50 exhibitors will be on hand. “After all the success we had in Montreal, it was only natural to go to Quebec City, where there’s also lots of interest in electric vehicles,” said the show’s promoter, Luc Saumure. “Three days to look around, analyze, compare, and test drive. Don’t miss our outdoor test circuit and our indoor test track for small vehicles! Test driving is believing!”
No discrimination here
The show is open to all, without discrimination: from the EV-curious to the EV-committed, the EV-enthusiast to the EV-uncertain. Whatever your EV “relationship status,” the experts from CAA-Quebec will be there to answer your questions. Where do you recharge? How? What are the benefits and drawbacks, what’s the learning curve, how much do they really cost, how do they affect how you travel? CAA-Quebec auto experts Jesse Caron and Mazime Dubois will be giving a talk on these very topics (in French), Le VÉ à la portée de tous : mythe ou réalité? That little (financial) boost they need
“For a lot of families, the government incentives offer that little extra boost they need to choose electric,” says Pierre-Serge Labbé, vice president of automotive services at CAA-Quebec. “They bring the cost more in line with that of a gas-powered vehicle, and after a few years of not buying gas, the fully electric vehicle may turn out to be cheaper. We expect to see a new wave of EVs on the road, and we’re getting ready. For example, last fall CAA-Quebec started testing a mobile charging service with a Hyundai IONIQ Electric. It will be on demo.”
The electric wave
The automobile industry wants to ride the electric wave, says Charles Drouin, CEO of Corporation Mobilis, a consortium of dealerships in the Quebec City area that helped organize the show. “Dealerships are excited to offer customers electric and hybrid alternatives. They are very aware of the impact new technologies will have on the future of the automotive industry and are eager to be part of these changes.”
Electric or gas, you can still be an eco-friendly driver!
Whether your vehicle is electric, gas, or hybrid, or if you’re wondering which to choose, eco-friendly driving is a great way to reduce your environmental footprint and energy spending. Visitors to the show can learn about the concept with the CAA-Quebec Foundation’s driving simulator. CAA-Quebec is proud to have been part of this adventure since the very beginning and is offering its members $5 off admission.
