How to save on gas during your vacation
Published on July 25, 2019
Gas prices in Quebec didn’t go up before the construction holiday this year. Will they hold steady? Even with a crystal ball it would be hard to predict where prices will go in the coming weeks. But here are some factors to consider:
- Lots of people travel in the summer, so demand for fuel is high. Gas prices often drop at the end of the summer.
- Tensions with Iran are causing instability.
- Some forecasts point to an intense hurricane season in North America, and that could affect refining capacity.
At 132.4¢ per litre on average in Montreal since the start of summer vacation, gas is much more expensive than in 2017 (116¢/litre), but slightly cheaper than last year (136.1¢/litre). All the same, fuel is expensive and using it wisely will help both your wallet and the planet.
