Getting a tow on the island of Montreal: When you should still call us
With summer holidays coming up, anyone who lives in the Montreal area, has plans to drive through it, or is staying there could probably use some clarifications on the new exclusive towing zones. Rest assured that CAA-Quebec is still on the job and will be there when in counts.
Effective Thursday, July 1, 2021, the island of Montreal has been divided into 10 exclusive towing zones. If you’ve heard, seen, or read the Montreal police department (SPVM) ads about it, you might be a little confused about who to call if you need a tow.
First and foremost, you should still call our Roadside Assistance if your vehicle breaks down in your driveway, on the side of the street, or in a public or private parking lot, like the ones attached to hospitals, shopping centres, train or bus stations, or restaurants. Exclusive towing rules apply only for damaged and broken‑down vehicles that block traffic or are dangerous for other drivers. They don’t apply to the expressways crossing the island either, since they’re already covered by *4141 towing.
If in doubt, feel free to call us as usual. If the new municipal rules mean we can’t tow your vehicle, we’ll tell you who can. Our goal is to give you the kind of great service you’ve come to expect.
