Montreal Electric Vehicle Show: CAA-Quebec presentations, advice and contests!

Published on April 20, 2023

Plug-in hybrid or 100% electric? Newest model or safer option? Home station or public charging? CAA-Quebec experts will be attending the Montreal Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle Show over the weekend to steer visitors through the admittedly winding path of shopping for an EV.

Weather forecast in the city for the weekend of April 21 to 23 is not expected to be very kind. However, inside the Olympic Stadium, the 2023 edition of the Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle Show (MEVS) will be raining with electrified novelties. As such, headliners like the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, Hyundai IONIQ 6, McLaren Artura PHEV and Volkswagen ID. Buzz will share space with well-known models from Ford, Kia, Nissan and Toyota, to name some of the 22 manufacturers registered for the event.

Discovering products is one thing, but figuring out which electric vehicle (EV) will best serve your daily needs is quite another. This is where CAA-Quebec enters the picture, first with an interactive presentation featuring a golden opportunity for questions from the audience. Automotive experts Jesse Caron and Maxime Dubois will answer these with their tips and tricks. They will also hold a second lecture on buying and maintaining a used EV. Both presentations will take place each day during the Show.

“Purchasing an EV is not just a matter of choosing a vehicle you love, but also of knowing how to recharge it, use it in winter and ensure its profitability, among other things. Our experts are looking forward to a candid exchange with the public.”

—Pierre-Serge Labbé, Vice President of Mobility Services

CAA-Quebec has been a proud partner of the MEVS since its very first edition in 2017. According to Luc Saumure, co-promoter and Vice-President of Marketing and Communications for the event, “the Show’s growing success illustrates how far the industry has come since its debut and how attractive electric transportation has become to the public. We are part of a movement that is constantly accelerating. Gas prices, inflation and climate change are all in favour of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Most importantly, our resolve to live in a more sustainable and responsible world is now widespread.”

Personalized advice on EVs

Stopping by the CAA-Quebec booth will help you learn about various topics such as government incentives, battery durability and cold-weather range, to name just a few. Our advisors will guide the undecided in understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each type of electrified vehicle, free of any pressure.

They’ll also inform people about the benefits exclusive to CAA-Quebec’s electromobilists, such as rebates on the purchase of a Leviton home charging station (from retailer Lumen) or FLO (through HydroSolution). Visitors may also inquire about the opportunity to take part in a personalized assistance pilot project for the purchase of a home charging station.

$2,500 in prizes … and a discounted entry fee

Back this year, the Drive Electric with CAA-Quebec contest will allow anyone stopping by the booth to enter a draw for a chance to win a $1,000 CAA-Quebec Travel credit, one of two $500 CAA-Quebec gift cards, or a $500 CAA-Quebec Auto Insurance credit.

Moreover, CAA-Quebec members will enjoy a $3 discount per primary membership, simply by showing their membership card at the Olympic Stadium ticket office.
