On December 8, André Fortin, Quebec’s Minister of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Transport Electrification, tabled legislation to change the Highway Safety Code. CAA-Quebec sees this as a major reform, unprecedented since the 1980s, which definitely has the potential to improve the province’s road safety statistics, especially where distracted driving is concerned.


The legislation contains several measures, and CAA-Quebec has already provided its first impressions of the main ones.


Following a more in-depth analysis, the organization will certainly represent its members and ensure their voice is heard during legislature committee hearings called to study the proposed new law in February 2018.
