6 pro tips for more magic

With a 28% increase in the number of vacations to the land of Mickey Mouse organized in 2017 by the Disney specialists at CAA-Quebec Travel, it’s clear that the magic is attracting families in Quebec more than ever!

May the Force be with … Avatar and Mickey!

Why such a rise? It’s the magic, of course, but it’s also due to several new attractions, the main one being Pandora: The World of Avatar, added last May.

Maybe the Force is with Mickey too. The addition of Star Wars to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2016 sparked a lot of attention, says Mylène Bérubé, Disney specialist and workshop leader at the CAA-Quebec Travel Centre on Rue Bouvier in Quebec City. She added that a Star Wars hotel will soon be opened in Orlando. Sounds promising!

But this increase in popularity—which has been intensifying since the beginning of the year—means you have to book as soon as possible. It’s one of many tips you need to know, because Disney is a world of its own! Here are 6 pro tips to properly plan your vacation to the land of Donald Duck, Cinderella and Luke Skywalker.

1- Book early... and even earlier!

In recent months, thousands of rooms at the Walt Disney World resort in Orlando have been selling out weeks in advance. You also have to reserve up to six months before you go to get a seat in the most popular restaurants. Disney has made arrangements with partner hotels to meet the demand.

2- Learn from the best

You can plan your Disney vacation on your own, but there’s a lot to know and do. “In an hour together, we can do as much as a first-time planner can do in a month on their own,” says Ms. Bérubé, who regularly attends Disney training sessions. She and her colleagues know all the ins and outs of the MagicBand bracelet and meal packages, and stay up-to-date on new products, special events and must-see activities.

3- Plan ahead as much as possible

Some people are reluctant to plan their vacation down to every hour. But Disney is a special case. Many people realize that good planning allows them to spend more quality time with their families and less time getting organized or waiting their turn.

4- Get a FastPass

If you’re staying on site, you can get a FastPass up to 60 days in advance to bypass the lines. Otherwise, you can reserve your FastPass up to 30 days in advance.

5- Plan your days wisely

It’s better to hit the rides in the morning. The earlier the better. This way, you avoid the longest lines and the afternoon heat that can be intense. You can spend the afternoon at the water parks, pool, air-conditioned attractions or shows.

6- Bring the stroller!

Your little ones don’t like the stroller anymore? Don’t worry, you'll be glad you brought them! The site is huge, and it’s a safe bet that they’ll ask you for it. You can also rent one on site.
